Plasma Arc Melting

Hello, this is Dong-A Special Metals, a leading company in rare metal recycling. With the growing interest in the circular economy, recycling has become an essential practice across various industries. At Dong-A Special Metals, we are making significant advancements in the rare metal recycling market by developing innovative recycling technologies that start from scrap material.

Titanium Ingots and Plasma Arc Melting Technology

Traditionally, titanium ingots have been produced by melting titanium raw materials in the form of sponges extracted from titanium ore using electric resistance heat. However, we utilize plasma arc melting (PAM) equipment to manufacture high-purity titanium ingots by melting titanium sponges and scraps through a casting device.

Our proprietary plasma arc melting equipment is designed to produce titanium ingots with a diameter of 230mm and a length of up to 3000mm. This breakthrough has gained recognition from domestic and international industries. These ingots are further processed into rods and wires, which are supplied to various markets worldwide.

Nickel-Based Superalloys and Their Importance

Nickel-based alloys are the most widely used superalloys due to their superior high-temperature strength. These alloys contain more than ten elements, with chromium (Cr) providing oxidation and corrosion resistance, while elements such as tungsten (W), molybdenum (Mo), cobalt (Co), and vanadium (V) contribute to solid solution strengthening.

Among these, Inconel 625 is a high-temperature nickel alloy strengthened by molybdenum and niobium, which enhances rigidity. It exhibits excellent resistance to pitting, crevice corrosion, and intergranular corrosion. Furthermore, Inconel 625 is known for its exceptional durability in high-temperature and high-pressure environments, making it a key structural component in pressurized water reactor nuclear power plants. With a heat resistance of up to 1093℃ and superior oxidation resistance, it remains one of the most sought-after nickel alloys.

Recycling Nickel Alloys: Our Unique Technology

At Dong-A Special Metals, we employ cutting-edge recycling technology to recover and reuse scrap metal. Our process allows us to produce raw materials for melting, casting, and alloying without requiring additional refinement. Our advanced surface treatment technology ensures high-quality recycled materials.

Benefits of Using Recycled Nickel Alloys

  • Minimized Alloying Risks: Pre-alloyed recycled materials eliminate the need for extensive ingredient adjustments.

  • Cost Reduction: Utilizing our recycled feedstock lowers production costs and improves process efficiency.

  • Optimized Usability: Recycled materials are processed into sizes that enhance melting efficiency for manufacturers.

Nickel Alloy Manufacturing Process

The following steps illustrate how nickel alloys are produced using melting equipment:

  1. Melting Furnace: Steelmakers worldwide are increasingly adopting electric furnaces to support carbon neutrality. When manufacturing steel or alloying materials, carefully prepared raw materials are placed into the furnace for melting. Our pre-alloyed recycled materials improve efficiency and cost-effectiveness.

  2. Material Feeding and Melting: Each material is added to the melt according to the desired alloy composition. After a controlled melting period, the composition and physical properties are tested to ensure quality.

  3. Ejection and Cooling: The molten alloy is poured into molds and allowed to cool.

  4. Ingot Production: Once cooled, the final ingots are ready for further processing.

Note: When loading raw materials into the crucible, higher-density materials enhance the filling rate and allow for larger melting volumes. Compressed materials are more efficient than bulk materials.

Contributing to Carbon Neutrality

Recycling nickel alloys not only supports global carbon neutrality but also reduces carbon emissions for manufacturers. By converting scrap into usable materials, we create a sustainable, low-carbon economy. Our commitment to acquiring various rare metal scraps and conducting extensive alloy research underscores our dedication to resource circulation.

We actively seek partnerships with companies interested in sustainable recycling solutions. For more information or business inquiries, please contact us at the details provided below. We are committed to solving resource circulation challenges and look forward to collaborating with you.
