Zirconium 702

Zirconium Zr 702 is one of the most widely used commercially pure zirconium grades. Comprising over 99.2% zirconium with trace elements like oxygen, iron, and chromium, Zr 702 offers exceptional corrosion resistance and machinability. These properties make it ideal for harsh environments in chemical processing, nuclear energy, and marine industries.


Properties of Zirconium Zr 702

Zr 702 combines excellent ductility, toughness, and chemical stability. It has a relatively low density of 6.51 g/cm³ and maintains mechanical integrity at temperatures ranging from 400 to 500°C. Its moderate yield strength of around 220 MPa is balanced by superior corrosion resistance in both oxidizing and reducing environments.

Notably, Zr 702 resists corrosion from:

- Nitric acid

- Hydrochloric acid

- Organic acids and bases

These traits make it a top material choice for components that operate in highly reactive conditions.
