Although our company specializes in recycling titanium and nickel scrap, we also recycle small amounts of zirconium scrap using our ISM equipment. Zirconium is a material mainly used for nuclear power generation, aerospace, and medical purposes, and its uses are diverse. However, in Korea, the amount of zirconium scrap is not significant, and it is entirely exported overseas without being recycled domestically.

The export of special metal scrap in its entirety poses a severe problem of capital outflow for the country. Large domestic companies are also solely focused on selling exported scrap to distributors, and although many companies are proclaiming carbon neutrality, the reality is that this is a limitation of the Korean special metal market.

We need to change. We need to transform. Scrap should not be exported overseas and then re-imported as materials for domestic use. This requires the cooperation of not only our company but also many other companies' responsible staff.
