Ti-15-3-3-3 Alloy: Lightweight Strength for Advanced Applications

Hello, this is Dong-A Special Metals Co. Today we explore Ti-15V-3Cr-3Sn-3Al, commonly known as Ti-15-3-3-3, a beta titanium alloy with growing industrial importance.

This alloy includes vanadium (V), chromium (Cr), tin (Sn), and aluminum (Al) in precise ratios. Its strength-to-weight ratio is exceptional, offering about 1030 MPa (150 ksi) in yield strength. Thanks to its excellent cold workability and weldability, Ti-15-3-3-3 is used in a wide range of advanced structural parts.

With a density of 4.78 g/cm³, it is lighter than steel or nickel alloys, making it ideal for applications where weight reduction is critical. After an amorphous heat treatment, the alloy allows cold forming, and low-temperature aging improves final strength and elasticity.


Key Industrial Applications and Advantages

The alloy provides high strength, corrosion resistance, fatigue resistance, and elasticity. As a result, Ti-15-3-3-3 finds applications in:

Compared to Ti-6Al-4V, a widely used alpha-beta titanium alloy, Ti-15-3-3-3 excels in cold forming and high elasticity. Meanwhile, Ti-10V-2Fe-3Al offers superior strength for aircraft landing gear and heavy structural parts.
