Titanium round bars are essential stock materials, widely used across industries for their strength, lightness, and corrosion resistance. They are produced in various grades, ranging from commercially pure titanium (Gr.1–Gr.4) to advanced alloys such as Ti-6Al-4V (Gr.5/Gr.23) and beta alloys like Ti-15-3-3-3 or Ti-10-2-3. Despite having only about 60% of the density of iron, titanium offers a much higher specific strength, combining lightweight properties with excellent durability. Its corrosion resistance in chloride-rich and oxidizing environments, non-magnetic nature, and biocompatibility make it a versatile raw material for multiple industries.


Round bars are easy to process into precision components through turning, milling, and drilling, which reduces lead time and lowers costs compared to forging or sheet-metal fabrication. They are particularly valued in aerospace, medical, chemical, marine, and semiconductor applications, where safety margins and total cost of ownership (TCO) are critical.


Production and Processing of Titanium Round Bars

High-quality titanium round bars are produced through multiple melting steps, typically using vacuum arc remelting (VAR) to ensure purity. After melting, hot forging and rolling refine the material, which is supplied in annealed or solution-treated and aged (STA) conditions. Surface finishing methods such as grinding, turning, and pickling remove scale and alpha case, while lathe grinding ensures dimensional accuracy and straightness for high-precision components.


For large-diameter bars, center compression, reheating, and controlled cooling are crucial to achieve microstructural homogeneity. In aerospace and medical grades, managing oxygen and nitrogen levels as well as non-metallic inclusions is vital, as these factors directly affect performance and durability. Maintaining batch-to-batch consistency and full process traceability ensures high reliability for mission-critical applications.


Applications Across Industries

- Chemical and Marine Industries: CP Gr.2 and Gr.3 round bars are widely used for valve stems, pump shafts, and seawater heat exchanger fasteners due to their weldability and resistance to scaling and corrosion.

- Aerospace: Gr.5 and Gr.23 round bars are used in landing gear, fittings, hydraulic shafts, and fasteners, where fatigue strength and lightweight performance are essential.

- Medical Devices: Gr.23 (ELI) round bars are chosen for internal implants such as fracture screws, spinal systems, and plates, offering both biocompatibility and fatigue resistance.

- Semiconductor and Display Equipment: Titanium round bars are used for chamber hardware and high-vacuum connection parts thanks to their non-magnetic and low-contamination properties.

- Sports, Leisure, and Mobility: Premium components such as handlebars, hub shafts, and high-load fasteners increasingly use titanium round bars for their balance of strength and light weight.


Titanium’s naturally forming oxide layer makes it highly resistant to seawater, chlorine, and oxidizing acids. Compared to nickel-based alloys, it also performs better in resisting crevice corrosion and stress corrosion cracking. This makes titanium round bars an indispensable choice for industries that demand both performance and longevity.
